Purpose of this document :

Provide an overview of the FAIR training offering known, if possible with emphasis on the life science domain.

FAIR training landscape

For an overview, we have looked at FAIR training in life sciences, where we used the following criteria:

  • Training should be based on FAIR principles

  • A document is not yet a training

  • Still relevant (if the latest update is 2021, we’ll exclude it)

In the current training landscape, we can find:

  • Mostly limited offers for FAIR training

  • Most training are in the context of:

    • Universities

    • Internal to an organization (e.g. pharma)

  • No formal curriculum in general

  • Many one-off workshops

  • Very few repeated and structured training (either e-learning or on-site)

  • Only a few FAIR commercial training offerings

  • No certification or organisation that sets the criteria for ‘good’ training

  • Next to FAIR training, you can find training for technical skills and knowledge often used as good practice in FAIR: semantic web, ontology modelling, data infrastructures, data management skills etc.

Below is a table with several examples of FAIR workshops and training we foun. Please note that some of these training may no longer be offered.
