  • Provide different flavors to different needs - do not give everything for free

    • to ensure performance you need to not waste your resources 

    • set defaults that satisfy minimum requirements and provide presets for scaling up demands 

    • setup an easy request process for developers to get more resources when business needs justify them

    • identify for how long the resources need to be kept

  • Identify the outcome of a high performance

    • justify the resources cost with the business value

    • sometimes people operate with a “more is better” attitude and do not realize that this comes with a cost

    • identifying the business value of the investment is critical to ensure performance when performance is critical

    • performance is not measured in absolute numbers but in relation to the business needs

    • be transparent on the return or investment due to the competition of resources to better justify your decisions
